Hotel Bandolero

* * Liz Haywood-Sullivan Painting Holiday * *

Hotel Bandolero is pleased to welcome for the first time as an instructor, Liz Haywood-Sullivan for a painting holiday/workshop. The first scheduled workshop date is :

15 - 25 May 2010.

Liz Haywood-Sullivan, PSA, is a representational artist focusing primarily on pastel landscapes. Her paintings are consistently described as inspiring and are defined by strong contrast values and graphic compositions. She graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1978 with a degree in Environmental Design and worked as an industrial designer, exhibit designer, and professional illustrator prior to spending 11 years operating Haywood+Sullivan, Inc., a full-service graphic design business with her husband.

Since 1996 she has worked exclusively as a professional pastel artist, art educator, and community arts advocate. Holding Signature Memberships in the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, and the Connecticut Pastel Society, her award-winning paintings have been seen in numerous local, national, and museum shows, and are included in private and corporate collections worldwide.

She not only holds weekly classes at the North River Arts Society, where she is a Vice President, she also gives workshops and pastel demonstrations. Recent workshops in 2005 have included a Winter Blahs Workshop for the Pastel Society of Cape Cod (Black and White with Color - a comparison of working on two different toned papers), and a Sales and Marketing Workshop for the South Shore Art Center. She lives with her husband, daughter, two dogs, and horse in Marshfield Hills, Massachusetts.

Workshop Description:
Our adventure begins in Malaga where you will be picked up at the airport and transported to the Hotel Bandolero in Juzcar, a 90 minutes drive. Over the next eight days, we will paint in and around Juzcar as well as neighboring villages in the Ronda region - each with their own distinctive features: winding roads, medieval churches and historic monuments, cobblestone streets, lush springtime flowers and unusual trees, historic Moorish and Spanish architecture, arches, courtyards, chestnut trees and olive groves. We will spend one day in Granada at the world reknowned Alhambra Palace, arguably the finest preserved complex of Islamic architecture in the world. One of our evenings we will spend in Ronda enoying the Spanish art of traditional Flamenco dancing.

Non-painting spouses or companions are welcome and there will be plenty for them to do & see in the Genal Valley and surrounding areas whilst the artists paint.
